Encina produces valuable renewable chemicals, predominantly, BTX from waste plastic. These chemicals form the basis from which many major consumer products are produced.
How BTX is Made
The hydrocarbon industry typically creates BTX, the aromatic hydrocarbons, through the process of catalytic reforming of feedstock. Encina deploys proprietary technologies which enable it to economically extract BTX through pyrolysis. The Encina process enables the “cracking” of hydrocarbons which creates a “pygas”. This pygas contains the aromatics, which are extracted, captured, and delivered to our customers.
